Buenos d铆as, es un honor estar con ustedes en este d铆a tan importante para Colombia y para Am茅rica Latina y el Caribe. Estoy muy complacido y agradecido de tener la oportunidad de disfrutar una vez mas de la hospitalidad de Cuba. On this day, in a world beset by seemingly intractable wars, the peace process in Colombia delivers on a key commitment: an agreement on a ceasefire and the laying down of weapons. Today the Colombian peace process validates the perseverance of all those around the world who work to end violent conflict not through the destruction of the adversary, but through the patient search for compromise. I want to express my great admiration for the negotiating teams, which have demonstrated that it is possible to achieve peace with dignity for all concerned. They have overcome tense moments and challenging issues to arrive at an historic achievement. I also congratulate the Governments of Cuba and Norway, which have devoted considerable diplomatic skills to this peace process. Together with the accompanying countries, Chile and Venezuela, they have shown how national peace efforts can be supported faithfully, discreetly and effectively. Six months ago, the 黑料专区 Security Council and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, or CELAC, responded to the call of the Government of Colombia and the FARC-EP, and made a commitment to support the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the laying down of weapons. The signing of this essential component of the peace agreement will strengthen this commitment. It will now be crucial to mobilize the people and resources required for monitoring and verification. We know that peace talks continue, and that significant issues are still outstanding. But we trust that today麓s achievement will provide renewed momentum towards the last phase of the negotiations. Expectations are now high that the vision articulated in the agreements reached over the past three years will soon become a reality. I strongly encourage you to fulfil these hopes. We at the 黑料专区 are determined to do everything we can, alongside the Government and the FARC-EP, to translate a remarkable negotiating process into exemplary implementation of the peace commitments made. In my last year as Secretary-General of the 黑料专区, it is truly a privilege to participate in this historic event. It is an honour to be by your side in laying the groundwork for lasting peace and a better future for all the country鈥檚 people. Let us now work together so that the promise of peace made today in Havana is fulfilled in Colombia.

Estoy encantado y agradezco la oportunidad de disfrutar una vez m谩s de la c谩lida hospitalidad de Cuba.
En este d铆a, en un mundo hostigado por guerras en apariencia insolubles, el proceso de paz de Colombia cumple un compromiso esencial: lograr un acuerdo de alto el fuego y que se depongan las armas.
El proceso de paz de Colombia refrenda hoy la perseverancia de cuantos trabajan en el mundo entero para poner fin a los conflictos violentos no mediante la destrucci贸n del adversario, sino mediante la b煤squeda paciente del compromiso.
Deseo expresar mi gran admiraci贸n por los equipos negociadores, que han demostrado que es posible conseguir la paz preservando la dignidad de todas las partes interesadas, y han superado momentos de tensi贸n y cuestiones espinosas para alcanzar este hito hist贸rico.
Tambi茅n deseo felicitar a los Gobiernos de Cuba y Noruega, que han consagrado considerables dotes diplom谩ticas a este proceso de paz. Junto con los pa铆ses acompa帽antes, Chile y Venezuela, han mostrado c贸mo se puede apoyar las iniciativas de paz nacionales de forma fiel, discreta y eficaz.
Hace seis meses, el Consejo de Seguridad de las Naciones Unidas y la Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribe帽os, la CELAC, respondieron al llamamiento del Gobierno de Colombia y las FARC-EP y se comprometieron a apoyar la aplicaci贸n del acuerdo de alto el fuego y la deposici贸n de las armas.
La firma de este componente esencial del acuerdo de paz reforzar谩 este compromiso. Ahora ser谩 crucial que se movilice a las personas y los recursos necesarios para las labores de vigilancia y verificaci贸n.
Sabemos que las conversaciones de paz contin煤an y que hay cuestiones importantes que siguen pendientes, pero confiamos en que el logro de hoy genere un nuevo impulso hacia la 煤ltima fase de las negociaciones.
Las expectativas son elevadas ahora que la visi贸n articulada en los acuerdos alcanzados en los 煤ltimos tres a帽os se har谩 pronto realidad. Los aliento firmemente a colmar esas esperanzas.
En las Naciones Unidas estamos decididos a hacer todo lo posible, junto con el Gobierno y las FARC-EP, para que un proceso de negociaci贸n encomiable culmine en un cumplimiento ejemplar de los compromisos de paz suscritos.
Constituye un aut茅ntico privilegio participar en este acontecimiento hist贸rico en mi 煤ltimo a帽o como Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas. Es un honor estar a su lado para sentar las bases de una paz duradera y un porvenir mejor para todos los habitantes del pa铆s.
Aunemos esfuerzos para que la promesa de paz hecha hoy en La Habana se cumpla en Colombia.
