Water and sanitation services are no longer sectoral development concerns; they are strategic determinants of Africa’s peace, security, energy transition, food systems, and economic transformation. Persistent deficits in safely managed water and sanitation services undermine productivity, exacerbate fragility, constrain energy and food systems, and can potentially amplify conflict risks, particularly under accelerating climate change. This webinar and the respective policy brief will explore how a Water–Energy–Food–Ecosystem Nexus approach, strengthened transboundary governance, and the establishment of an African Water Peace and Security Architecture embedded within the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA) can transform water and sanitation into a catalyst for stability, resilience, and shared prosperity.
